I wrote a letter by hand on Moleskine paper and then slipped it into a nice Moleskine envelope. I shall have it delivered by post today.

(Sea) [salt] is the opposite of (ground) [pepper].

Since my favorite beer is AleSmith IPA, I had the protagonist in my novel, Jake Reed, buy it from a store in Los Angeles. Somehow someone at AleSmith discovered the reference and sent me some bottles of beer to enjoy. Drinking the beer now as I post this. Love you guys.

Catch Nick Miller this Saturday morning on 91.5 WMFO. He’ll discuss books and music on the radio show Novel Songs with host Catherine Maldonado. The show begins Saturday at 10 a.m. Listen in live at WMFO.org.
I’m having my first live radio interview with the lovely Catherine Maldonado. Let’s hope I don’t fuck it up.
Just a few shots from my time in New York.
My friend, Joe King (you may know him from The Fray), just released a single—from his upcoming solo album—called “Need a Woman by Friday.” Joe is a brilliantly talented singer-songwriter, and we’ve have had some fantastic conversations about music and writing and the general artistic process.

(Here we are after some whiskey on a snowy night)
Anyway, I’ve been helped out by so many in the artistic community, and now I’d love to share the news of his new lovely creation with you all. Since his first single is called “Need a Woman by Friday,” I thought we could get a little creative and have some fun. Let’s say it’s Monday. Now let’s imagine that you have only until Friday to woo the woman or man of your dreams. What exactly would you do if you had once chance? Reply to this post with your answer in one sentence. Joe and I will go through them, find our two favorite replies, and send the two winners a signed copy of his album (it will be released on vinyl) and a signed copy of my novel, Isn’t It Pretty To Think So?

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by The Story Siren, in which book bloggers post about the books they’ve bought, borrowed or received in the past week.
This week I received this lovely copy of Isn’t It Pretty To Think So? by Nick Miller. From the library, I took out Wonder by R.J. Palacio.
I dig it.
The pup and me in the early morning, after a long night of no sleep. Well, the pup slept … Anyway, this morning I caught an early flight to New York; I’m writing this post while on the plane, as we smoothly glide toward the East—where the captain said the ride would be “bumpy as hell.” Great. Cue up that Elton John song.
I hate flying. But I love New York more than I hate flying. The first time I flew to New York, I extended my stay (on friends’ couches) for two months. I fell in love with the place: the energy, the coffee shops, the pea coats, the trail of Woody Allen. It’s been a long while since I’ve been able to visit, so I’m excited for this plane to land.
New York people, let’s meet up at a cool bookstore or something … What say you? Any suggestions?

I was looking for a page and found this. I love my boyfriend so much! This made me so happy. I seriously have the best boyfriend in the world :’)
Ha, awesome.
The Farmer’s Daughter Hotel—the lovely boutique in Los Angeles that inspired me to write my novel, Isn’t It Pretty To Think So?—invited me to come stay with them. I brought my camera to capture the experience. See the rest of the photos here.
